How to launch the kite?

1.  Bring out the drift anchor and let the boat orientate to the direction of the wind.

Install the connector system

Inflate the kite

2.  Put the kite face-to-face onto the surface of the water

3.  Let the kite drift away from the boat and carefuly unwind the kite lines

4.  When the lines are completely unwound, connect the WingCommander XF to the connection system

5.  Turn the kite windwards

6.  Let the Kite drift to one edge of the wind window

7.  Launch the kite at the edge of the wind window and fly it to the zenith

8.  Keep the kite in zenith and recover the drift anchor

The attainable heading depends on different factors. It is influenced by the strenght of the wind, weight and shape of the hull and the effect of the tiller.  Glider hulls in combination with outboards can reach courses up to 60 degrees before the wind. Boats with well marked keel and large tiller may also run upwind.
