The attainable heading depends on different factors. It is influenced by the strenght of the wind, weight and shape of the hull and the effect of the tiller. Glider hulls in combination with outboards can reach courses up to 60 degrees before the wind. Boats with well marked keel and large tiller may also run upwind. |
